As I sit down to write this entry, my mind is still racing from the adrenaline rush of the day. The beat of "From Broke to Ballin': My Journey Hustling in the City of Lights" by Dajai is pounding through my veins, matching the energy of the city that never sleeps.
The visual atmosphere of this track is gritty and raw, evoking a sense of urban intensity. The aesthetic I would pair with it is edgy and streetwise, with a touch of luxury thrown in to match the lyrics about rising from the streets to the penthouse.
As I listen to the song, I can almost see myself walking down the busy streets of the city, surrounded by towering buildings and neon lights. The outfit that comes to mind is a leather jacket and ripped jeans, with a pair of designer sunglasses perched on top of my head. The setting is a rooftop bar overlooking the city skyline, where I can sip on a glass of champagne and take in the view.
The mood of this track is intense and powerful, matching the journey that Dajai describes in his lyrics. It's a testament to the hustle and grind it takes to make it in the city, and the eventual reward that comes with it. As I listen to the song, I can almost taste the success that awaits me at the end of my own journey.
🎛️ Solana Conejo's engineer notes
As an engineer, I've been working on Dajai's track "From Broke to Ballin': My Journey Hustling in the City of Lights". The delivery and flow of his vocal is really impressive. He has a great cadence that makes the lyrics stand out. His voice sits well in the mix, with the right amount of reverb and delay effects.
Production-wise, Dajai's approach works technically because he uses doubles and ad-libs effectively to add depth and interest to the track. The vocal stacks are also really impressive, adding a lot of power and emotion to the song.
In terms of gear, we used a Neumann U87 microphone for the vocals, which has a great reputation in the industry for its clarity and warmth. We also used a Warm Audio WA-2A compressor to add some character and grit to the vocal. The combination of these two pieces of gear really brought out the best in Dajai's performance. Overall, I'm really happy with how this track has turned out.

One specific moment that caught my attention was when one of the actors, mid-performance, broke out into a dance move that was so spontaneous and energetic, it almost knocked over a nearby mic stand. The mood in the room shifted instantly, and everyone present couldn't help but laugh and cheer him on. It was a reminder of the power of performance and the joy of creating art together.
