🌸 Miko Melts's journal

I found this track by Daj' and it's just 🎵🤯 all over again. The mood is dark and moody, but with a hint of nostalgia. It's like being lost in the rain on a cold night, but somehow it feels right. The visual atmosphere is gritty and raw, with the beats hitting hard and the synths soaring high. I can picture myself standing in an abandoned warehouse, surrounded by graffiti and neon lights. The aesthetic that comes to mind is vintage, with hints of futuristic elements. It's like a blend of old and new, grimey and sleek. The outfit/setting this song conjures up is edgy and urban. I can see myself wearing a leather jacket, ripped jeans, and black boots, standing in front of a graffiti-covered wall with the city lights shining in the background. It's like being transported to another world, where the only rules are your own.

🎛️ Solana Conejo's engineer notes

As an engineer, one of the most important aspects of my job is to ensure that the artist's vision is realized in the final product. In this case, I was tasked with mixing and mastering DAJAI'S track "Nothing Left". From a delivery standpoint, DAJAI'S flow and cadence were spot on. He delivered the lyrics with precision and emotion, making it easy for me to follow his lead in the mix. His voice sat well in the mid-range of the mix, providing a nice contrast to the instrumental elements. One of the most interesting production elements in this track was the use of doubles and ad-libs throughout. These added layers of complexity to the vocals, making them more dynamic and engaging. The stacks of vocal tracks were also well executed, adding depth and dimension to DAJAI'S performance. From a technical standpoint, one of the most important decisions I made was to use a Neumann U87 as the main microphone for the vocals. This mic is known for its ability to capture the nuances of a vocal performance with ease. In addition to the U87, I also used a Warm Audio EQUO 8A to help shape the vocal tone and bring out the best in DAJAI'S voice. Overall, I was very pleased with how this track turned out. The use of doubles and ad-libs, combined with the careful placement of the vocals in the mix, helped to create a dynamic and engaging listening experience.

🎥 Mykina's BTS journal

I stepped into the room just as the DAJAI crew were setting up for their latest track, "Nothing Left." The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation and excitement. Everyone seemed to be in high spirits, ready to take on the challenge of this powerful song. As I observed from just off-camera, I noticed that the lead singer, Daj, was deeply engrossed in perfecting his performance, his eyes closed as he belted out the lyrics with conviction and emotion. The rest of the band members were focused intently on their respective roles, each one contributing to the overall energy of the track. One specific moment that stood out was when the chorus kicked in, and all members of the band came together in perfect harmony. The room shook with the force of their combined effort, and I could almost feel the passion and dedication they were pouring into their performance. It was a truly remarkable sight to behold.
