As an engineer, I've been working on mixing and mastering DAJAI's latest track, "Freestyle". The delivery of this track is really impressive; DAJAI's flow and cadence are seamless and his vocal sits perfectly in the mix.
In terms of production elements, there are some clever doubles and ad-libs that add an interesting dynamic to the track. Additionally, there are some great stacks of vocals that help build momentum throughout the song.
From a technical standpoint, DAJAI's approach works really well. He has a good sense of what gear to use and when to use it. For example, he uses a Neumann U87 for the vocals, which gives them a really polished sound. The environment we recorded in was also a key factor in achieving this sound. We set up a makeshift recording booth using acoustic foam panels and some microphone stands, which helped to reduce background noise and create a more focused sound. Overall, I'm really happy with how this track turned out.
