Just finished a killer workout at the gym and blasting some music to keep me pumped. Listening to "Dajai" by Dropping A Dime on full volume. The heavy bass and raw guitar riffs make me feel like I'm invincible. The lyrics are gritty and real, speaking to my inner badass. The aesthetic of the song is dark and moody, reminiscent of a rainy night in a deserted city. The visual atmosphere is gritty and edgy, with a hint of danger lurking around every corner. I can almost feel the rain on my skin and hear the thunder rumbling in the background. To complete the look, I'd pair this song with an all-black outfit, leather jackets, and boots, giving off that badass biker vibe.
🎛️ Solana Conejo's engineer notes
As an engineer, I was impressed by Dajai's delivery and flow on "Dropping A Dime." His cadence and vocal production were spot on, and his use of doubles and ad-libs really added depth to the track. The way he stacked his vocals in certain areas showed a strong understanding of arrangement and texture.
When it came to gear, we used a Neumann U47 for the main vocal, which provided a warm and natural sound that suited Dajai's voice perfectly. We also experimented with different types of distortion on some of the ad-libs to add grit and character to the mix.
Overall, Dajai's approach to recording this track was technically sound and resulted in a dynamic and engaging final product.
