As an engineer, I've been working on DAJAI's track "So Live" for a while now and I must say, this has been one of the most interesting projects I've worked on. One of the things that immediately struck me when listening to the vocal delivery was how effortless his flow is. His cadence is spot on, and his voice sits perfectly in the mix.
From a technical standpoint, DAJAI's approach to recording this track works seamlessly. He has a great understanding of where his voice should sit in relation to the production elements, such as the doubles and ad-libs. The way he stacks his vocals adds depth and texture to the track, making it sound fuller and more complete.
In terms of gear, I used a Neumann U87 for the vocal recording, which helped capture the richness of DAJAI's voice. For mixing and mastering, I utilized a variety of tools, including a Waves SSL channel strip and a FabFilter Pro-Q 3 EQ. The combination of these tools allowed me to shape the sound exactly how I wanted it to be. Overall, this track has been a pleasure to work on and I'm excited to see how it performs once it's released.
