There's thousands of high school football teams across the country. Only one can be ranked number one. That's what Bishop Gorman faced tonight as the Gales hosted top-ranked Booker T. Washington. Two for T to field for the big-time national matchup, Gales and tornadoes. First quarter-actions and crazy plays in the sequence for Booker T. Washington. Tree on Harris looking down, field, this one off the hands of Jabari Butler, right to Gales on top in four catch and the first down. Couple plays later, this is what we call a clash of D1 prospects. Harris, tattooed by Almond Perry, stays up and eventually goes down, another first down on the plate. Later in the driver, late in the first quarter now, Harris dropping back, looking to the Yenzone, a Mar Parker. Makes the grab, stays in bounds for the seven yard touchdown. That gives it seven nothing lead for Booker T. And in the second, Gales looking to answer back, random cutting in, bootlegging outside and in the worst case scenario, interception by branded boy. Booker T with some great field position. Got her some great Gales defense and a big penalty. It's third and thirty-three. Harris has no choice but to go deep. Hopkins gets behind the defense. That's a thirty-five with our touchdown, Gagger. They double it up to take a fourteen to nothing lead. Now the offense needs to answer. And after a long ground and pound drive, Russell agrees, caps it off sixteen yard touchdown run. No extra point though. Gales still chose fourteen to six. Now, final moments of the half, Gales defense. Step in up, Chris Lally looked a sack. They go into the half, thrown it down by eight points. Now, tiny hand, didn't throw much after throwing that interception early on. Here in the third quarter, he's looking for redemption, bootlegging outside. Connection. Power is eight, Jones. Eight where a touchdown from number eight. No two point conversion on the play. From Gales, Joe, fourteen to twelve. Now, some more defense. Now, it's the offense cheering the defense on. Harris, pressured by the D looking down field, but dealing well with the other idea, why is Russell being intercepted and killing that drive? But after a bishop, Jordan, Fumber, in their own territory in the fourth quarter, here's Harris. You don't want to give this team extra scoring chances. He scrambles and scores from eleven yards out, and Booker 2 takes a twenty-one to twelve lead. Now, with the clock running, ticking away, and down nine, Bishop Gordon needs to go to the air. Cunningham, looking deep for Jones. Instead, it's intercepted by Nigel Bethel, the second. That helps seal the deal. Bishop Gordon holds its own in the big matchup, but falls in the end, twenty-eight to twelve. We had some turnovers, and when you're playing a team that caliber, you can't turn the ball over that many times and expect to win the game. So, you know, it is what it is. We've got to go to work. We've got to continue to get better. We'll do that, and we've got to get ready for the game next week. Next up for us, it's Run and Rebels time. We'll be at the first official practice Monday.
