quite the powerhouse team traveling in from Nevada is Bishop Gorman. This should be an excellent matchup both these teams very strong in the past and expected to be this season and both these teams share a bit in common as they both
had week one or week zero losses depending on who you ask let's start with Bishop Gorman and they do have a new quarterback this year although he's a senior and he's also Randall Cunningham Jr. Yes that's the son of Randall Cunningham but he did struggle in their first game of the season only throwing for five complete passes. The good news for Bishop Gorman is that he rebounded as the thumped
and he had to combine 300 plus combined yards as he threw the air and of course on the ground like his dad so that would be definitely an issue for Santa Margarita defense trying to contain him on the other side of the ball for the Eagles as I mentioned they had a week zero loss and it was a tough one to swallow. They've also kind of the news coming from them is the quarterback it was kind of up in the air who would start for them this season last year.
Johnny Stanton went down with a huge injury that kind of derailed their kind of hopes to be the nation's number one team last season Kyle sweet and Josh can't he kind of filled the spot for the rest of the season only didn't add a quick job it turns out that the starting duties for this season were handed to K.G.
and he looked very good early in last week's loss as he had to quit touchdown passes in the first quarter to Kyle sweet good after that he had five total interceptions on the game and Santa Margarita had lead going into the fourth but scored zero points in the fourth Bishop Amat their opponent scored 14 for a come from behind victory in a very tough week zero loss for Santa Margarita so they don't look to rebound versus a very tough opponent.
In Bishop Gordon should be a fantastic game you hear the crowd behind me they're getting pumped up it's a great evening here for football let's go ahead and highlight.
All right we pick up this game with Randall Cunningham Jr on the first drive of the night he finds Elise Jones and just like that Bishop Gorman is on the move and then once again Randall Cunningham Jr using his feet as you can see right there but this drive would be stalled so they'll have to settle for a field goal but hold on one second.
Ramirez's field goal is no good the score remains zero zero back on to the Eagles side and K.J. Costello on the first drive for the Eagles
who's hurried out of the pocket and it's an interception that was tipped by Dillon Weldon and Butler coming up with the interception he's ain't going back and forth finally brought down so once again it'll be Randall Cunningham Jr but good defense by the Eagles and they get the ball right back
in this time K.J. Costello is going to find his favorite target quite literally in Kyle sweet and just like last week they're off to an early lead with a long touchdown pass this one is a school record 95 yard touchdown pass to Kyle sweet
and Santa Margarita is up seven to zero let's go ahead and get over to Bishop Gorman this is now in the second quarter in the first couple of seconds in the second quarter
and they'll go ahead and score Daniel Stewart the one yard touchdown and it's seven seven later in the second it's Randall Cunningham Jr.
and he's in a fine Okiki and he's in a race to the end zone as he dodges a couple tacklers and just like that it's 14-14 or rather 14-7 my mistake
and then on fourth down here in the second quarter Santa Margarita going for it the trick play and it is incomplete Conor Bencini just can't hang on he can't believe it
but once again we see Eagles on the offense aside the ball and Kyle sweet Santa Hay make up for the drop touchdown pass earlier as he is in the end zone for six dodging a couple tacklers making defenders just look a little silly as it is tied up 14-14 here in the third quarter
and then Randall Cunningham Jr. trying to answer but Elise Jones can't hang on this game just back and forth big plays all over the place and big mistakes as well so the field goal will have to suffice 17-14
and then it's Dylan Weldon with the pick six for Bishop Gorman that would be Castello's second interception on the night and this one is as costly as it gets as they are now up 24-14
but the Eagles just won't go away you've got to be kidding me Kyle sweet once again the hat trick from Castello
and the Eagles are right back in it 24-21 Kyle sweet and Castello having one heck of a night but in the fourth quarter it's Kenyan Coker the one yard touchdown
and once again Bishop Gorman goes up by ten 31-21 but Santa Margarita just won't go away in this game
with five minutes to go it's Castello finding Jeremy McNichols wait that's not Kyle sweet no it is indeed a different receiver and it's good for six 31-28
like I said with just five minutes left to go in this game and that Santa Margarita's defense comes up big stopping Bishop Gorman so they will be back on the offense
the ball with just a couple minutes left can they do the two-minute drill to perfection well Castello finds Kyle sweet in the flats he races for the first down and out of bounds stopping the clock
then Castello drops back and he's in to find Rick Ellison and wow look at that escaping attacker to the 20 yard line and with 48 second
Santa Margarita looking like they're in great position and then Castello to Kyle sweet once again no unbelievable
Kyle sweet had in his hands just couldn't hang on we didn't have to try and settle for a field goal to tie this and send this to overtime
and Alex Yuri nails it and just like that Santa Margarita comes from behind from ten points to send this game into overtime
and there you go the scoreboard in just a second is any change to reflect that 31-31 score one amazing game here tonight
in overtime Bishop Gorman can't get anything going offensively so they have to try and settle for a field goal and their first possession bad snap
and that's it Santa Margarita has a chance to win this game with their next offensive possession on third down
it's aimed to be Kyle Castello and he's in to find Grant Clancy he's into the end zone for six but wait one second
oh wait there it is touchdown signal but oh no no we got this going on one rap saying touchdown the other calling it off
Santa Margarita on the field celebrating what they believed to be a win
as you can see on the replay right here he had the ball he had possession as he took a couple steps
he reached the end zone and it looked like he lost possession just a step or two after he hit the end zone
but the rest started and I have to talk this over in Santa Margarita's crowd is about to not like this decision

as they take this victory 34-31 in an amazing if not controversial game
all right well there you have it I don't know what you can say after a game like this
just what you can't say for sure it was a hard-bottled battle between two excellent schools and programs and football teams
every player on the field giving it their all and it's double overtime victory here for Bishop Gorman 34-31
with the winning field goal coming in that double overtime
