As an engineer, I've been working on this track for DAJAI for a while now, and I have to say, I'm really happy with how it's coming together. One of the things that immediately struck me when listening back was the delivery and flow of his vocal. He has a great cadence and it really works well with the song. The vocal sits in the mix perfectly, and I think it's because of the production elements we used.
We doubled certain lines to add depth and interest to the track, and the ad-libs he threw in during the session really add a lot of character. We also stacked some of his vocals to create a big, powerful chorus that really drives the song home.
As for gear, we used a Neumann U87 on the vocal recording, which gave us a nice, warm sound. We also used a Waves CLA-76 plugin on the vocal bus to add some grit and edge to the track. Overall, I think the approach we took works really well technically, and I'm excited to see how it performs in the final mix.
